I believe coaches have been using technology to deliver coaching services to clients far longer than mental health practitioners. I remember in the 90’s when coaching by telephone became very popular. The Institute for Life Coach Training was founded in 1998 by Patrick Williams who had been practicing tele-coaching already.
Introduction to Online Coaching Course
I joined ILCT’s faculty over 10 years ago, bringing to their array of classes, Introduction to Online Coaching. The course has become very popular especially through this pandemic. It is not only therapists who must ramp up quickly. Coaches who have been working with clients in-person or in the workplace now must meet their clients in new ways.

Learn about resources, platforms and considerations when working online
In the call I discussed technology platforms such as VTConnect and Hushmail. I talked about handling crisis via distance and why we should not offer online support to victims of domestic violece who are still engaged with the perpetrator. I talked briefly about the online disinhibition effect and of course we discussed therapist as coach responsibilities.
If you are new to working online and you are feeling the video fatigue, remember that other methods of delivery exist including phone, chat, email and even virtual world platforms.
